Revealing Ealing's first visit to a Grub Club!

Being a relatively new blogger can be a bit scary.

You put yourself out there.

Often feeling like you're putting your life out into the world with nobody listening to you.

But every now and again you get a comment on a post or a new follower on twitter who you start chatting to and you can make a new friend. One that shares your interests and passions and reminds you why you're doing it all in the first place.

Well, a few months ago, I made a new "internet fwend" in the shape or Rosie from A LITTLE LUSCIOUSNESS and she suggested I check out her Grub Club to see what it was all about.

After arriving at her house (you need to look out for the mysterious blue lantern!) we swiftly exchanged our coats for a cocktail (fair swap!) and started mingling.

The lantern ensures you're in the right spot!

Cocktails & Jukebox

I brought my lovely friend Amanda along for the experience and we were both soon chatting to the other diners before taking our seats for the meal.

The table

The premise behind the menu was 'nose to tail' so we kicked off with Chicken & Duck Liver Pate with chicken hearts, madeira jelly and raisin puree, with both Amanda and I dolloping it onto the beautifully home baked bread.

In all honestly I was a little intimidated at the thought of 'nose to tail' but there weren't actually any noses (phew!) and liver pate is a very accessible way to try a part of an animal that you might usually avoid.

Once devoured (the portions were pretty big, but with such a yummy starter it was tricky to try and pace ourselves) we moved onto the Oxtail & Ox cheek slow cooked stew with parsnip puree (oh my god, how amazing are parsnips??), leeks and flagolet beans with wild garlic.

This was my favourite part of the meal.

The ox was tender and all the veg went perfectly with it............I was very pleased with the large portion here!

After this, we were onto the Lemon Posset, served with rhubarb jam and heart shaped shortbread.........refreshing yet creamy I really didn't think I could finish it, but I pos-set my mind to it and soldiered on!

After the pud came the cheese, but (shock revelation alert) I don't really 'get' cheese. So I left that to the others and entertained myself with the honey whiskey...........mmmmmmmm.

As I had to hear my banns the following day we headed off once we had at least partially digested the mammoth meal and trekked back to Ealing.

Overall the night  was fantastic and something I had never experienced before, Rosie puts a bit of herself into her food and with touches like baking her own bread and using a heart shaped cutter for homemade biscuits, this is a unique experience of restaurant quality food in the comfort of a friendly home environment.

Rosie in action!

Her next event is on 25th April and bound to sell out, so BOOK IT HERE! to make sure you don't miss out.

Her house is a hop skip and a jump from Acton Town tube, a very quick Uber ride from Ealing or a slightly longer walk to create the monster appetite you'll need for this bountiful night of delicious food!

You can also find out more about Grub Club HERE for other eating adventures in London.
