Summer Flashback - Rooftop Cinema

In another one of my summer flashbacks (also known as playing catch up with the blog after a fun packed time), today I wanted to share the Rooftop Cinema club with you.

So good we went twice, the Rooftop Film Club graced Ealing for the first time last year so when they announced they were coming back this year, we were SO happy.

As well as being a very cool thing to have on your doorstep, this event means Ealing is keeping good company as (slightly more hipster) Shoreditch, Peckham Rye & Stratford are the other sites.

The premise is simple. Having bought your tickets (quite a lot of the nights sold out pretty quickly so if they come back next year you need to be quick off the mark) you go to the Springfield Carpark and get the lift up to the top.

Once up there you buy some drinks from the bar, get your tickets and fleecey blanket, maybe get some popcorn, order some food to be delivered (they have a menu of local places that are involved), pick your deck chair to sit in and then settle into an evening of film.

We saw Dallas Buyers Club and Casablanca - both iconic in their own right - and the other films on offer ranged from oldie classics to modern releases.

Now, even though we did have a heat wave, it wasn't when we were up on the roof so my top tip is to wear lots of layers. However, if you haven't wrapped up you can get a fleece blanket - like you get on a BA flight (they were this years sponsors) - to keep you snuggled up. These were good, but not a patch on last years slankets (blanket with sleeves if you're not in the know).

Once the film is over you give your blankets back and reflect on the film while gazing at the ever changing Ealing skyline.

I really love having this summer experience so fingers crossed they come back again next year.

Ealing loves you!!
